Lumiere Ghosting and the New Media Classroom
Digital Age universities must support faculty and student engagement in innovative and creative knowledge-making processes.
In this presentation, Dr. David Gillette (Associate Professor - New Media Arts Program, Director - Technical Communications Program) , from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) discusses the creation of an innovation zone, the "Learning Commons" dedicated to supporting innovative interdisciplinary curriculum- and technology- development projects.
The primary goal of the " Learning Commons ", is to promote creative learning relationships among professors, librarians, instructional designers, and technologists who work together to explore futuristic strategies for furthering creation among diverse learning communities. The development of the Lumiere Ghosting Project is also discussed; a new form of interactive cinema developed by a cross disciplinary learning community, involving both students and faculty.
