Facilities and Services

Accommodation

Residents are invited to personalise their rooms and make them feel like home. They have a selection of room types that vary with cost however all buildings have a common area equipped with couches, television, outdoor seating area, and dining area.

Block F: Contains 10 Air-conditioned rooms with shared facilities (including common room equipped with cooking facilities and shared bathrooms/laundry). Each room is supplied with a single bed, study desk and chair and a bedside table. There is adequate storage/wardrobe space available in each room.

Block E: Contains six large air-conditioned rooms with personal ensuite. Shared kitchen facilities located in the common room area. Each room is supplied with a single bed, study desk and chair and a bedside table. There is adequate storage/wardrobe space available in each room.

Block D: Contains six large air-conditioned rooms with personal ensuite. Shared kitchen facilities located in the common room area. Each room is supplied with a single bed, study desk and chair and a bedside table. There is adequate storage/wardrobe space available in each room.

Pods: This three storey building has been recently completed and contains 72 air-conditioned rooms, fully equipped with personal kitchen facilities and ensuite. The second and third storey has views across the residential accommodation, the university and surrounding farmland. These rooms have recently been developed and flaunt a modern design. The building has a large common area and shared laundry facilities. Each room contains a bed, a desk, and chair and also come equipped with a fridge and microwave.


Housekeeping

Housekeeping staff clean the rooms on a weekly basis. Common areas and bathrooms are cleaned more frequently. Residents are responsible for cleaning up after themselves in the shared kitchen facilities in terms of putting their dishes in the dishwasher and putting their food away after cooking.


Dining

Meals are provided at the refectory located by the library. Using a voucher system, residents receive three meals a day, 7 days a week. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated.


Common Areas

Each building has a comfortably equipped common area with a TV, couches, eating area and outdoor area. This is also where kitchen facilities are located.


Carparks

Mackay Student Residence has three separate car parks for residents and guests. These are located in well lit areas close to the buildings and are monitored by the University security and after-hour's duty team.
