Founded in 1969, Rockhampton Student Residence offers on-campus accommodation on the grounds of CQUniversity, Rockhampton.The Student Residence operates as an academic residential community of undergraduate and postgraduate residents drawn from Australian country and suburban areas as well as many international localities. On-campus living provides many distinct advantages and opportunities to its Residents.
Rockhampton Student Residence provides accommodation for 320 male and female students of the University in gender-integrated residential houses.Each student has their own study/bedroom supplied with desk, chair, built-in wardrobe, fan, bookcase and curtains. All rooms are fully carpeted and fly screened. Residents’ individual study/bedrooms are cleaned by the Residence housekeeping staff each week, whilst the communal bathrooms are cleaned regularly.

Living in the Student Residence community will enable you to meet many other students from different places in Australia and around the world. You'll also get to know students studying quite different discipline/subjects from you.
The many life-long friendships made within the close-knit community also contribute to students feeling a greater belonging to the University and the City of Rockhampton.

Rockhampton Student Residence provides a safe, warm and hospitable community into which you are immediately welcomed. You are able to develop your own identity and level of involvement in Student Residence — even apply for one of the many leadership positions available each year.
A team of senior Residents (Residential Co-ordinator, Senior Residential Assistants, Academic Tutors and Residential Assistants) provide guidance, support and oversight to Student Residence Residents during their residency at Rockhampton Student Residence. Ongoing pastoral care for those students in need of guidance, advice or support is provided in close conjunction with University counsellors and health services.
The high level of personal guidance, academic support and practical assistance provided at Rockhampton Student Residence better ensures that students continue with their studies long after many non-Residence students have given up.
The opportunity to live in such a caring and supportive community is dependent upon residents embracing certain minimum standards of behaviour and appropriate attitudes that protect the equity, privacy, dignity and quality of life of all other residents.
The Residential Life Team provides a wide variety of sporting activities, social functions and services for Residents to better ensure that life at Rockhampton Student Residence is fun, diverse and full of opportunities. Activities include discos, sporting competitions, video nights and much more.
Residents are eligible for appointment to the many leadership positions available each year within the Residential Life Team.
