About the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & Research) & Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International)

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & Research) is responsible for driving the University's academic, research and engagement strategic and operational agendas. Professor Kyd provides executive leadership of whole-of-university strategy, operational plans and policy, and their associated planning, implementation and management. The role also involves oversight and implementation of relevant organisational systems and quality assurance; budget allocation and management within the Division of Academic and Research; overseeing the associated line management of key functional and business units; and facilitating communication, team work and collegial management processes among the members of the senior executive team of the University.

About Professor Jennelle Kyd

Professor Kyd has research interests in middle ear and respiratory infections and currently holds NH&MRC and ARC grants that support her research at CQUniversity. Professor Kyd is a leader in an international group working with the pharmaceutical industry and key international researchers to achieve a vaccine for the prevention of bacterial middle ear infection in children and is an inventor of commercially valuable intellectual property of vaccine components for Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. She has a PhD conferred by the University of Newcastle and a significant research portfolio in the areas of biotechnology, immunology and medical microbiology with an emphasis on vaccine development for the prevention of middle ear and respiratory infections. Professor Kyd has an extensive and diverse network of contacts with government and industry through her many review, advisory and consultative positions.
