Library Access

Electronic Databases

We are delighted to offer electronic database access (free of charge) for alumni of the university. Due to changing vendor licence conditions the range of databases available to CQUniversity alumni may alter at any time. Please refer to this page regularly for the latest information. Graduates currently have access to the following databases:

Graduates can apply for free membership of CQUniversity library but must be able to borrow in person.

Career Development

Regular (FREE) career sessions are being coordinated in Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone and Bundaberg campuses, for those alumni who reside within these regions only:

Career Planning Sessions are designed to assist alumni, future and current students to make career decisions in relation to occupation and program options.  This session caters for students who are not sure of which program they should study or what career path is the correct one for them.  Bookings essential via ssc-careers@cqu.edu.au.

Drop-In Sessions provides alumni and future students with the opportunity to ask individual career related questions.  No booking required.  These sessions are held in the Campus library.

Employment Preparation Session provides alumni and current students' assistance with preparing resumes, addressing selection criteria and designing covering letters.  Participants must access the employment preparation material available on CareerHub before booking for this session at ssc-careers@cqu.edu.au

The Training, Employment and Career Coaching (TECC) offices in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney can assist recent graduates seeking part-time, full-time or volunteer work along with career development through a broad range of employment and career orientated services e.g. resume writing and interviewing techniques.  Graduates are able to use the support and guidance of the TECC office for a further year after graduation.

Creative & Performing Arts Events Discounts

The School of Creative and Performing Arts, incorporating the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music, is offering all CQUniversity Alumni a special concession rate to a variety of concerts, master-classes and exhibitions presented by the School.

The events calendar can be found at www.musicandtheatre.cqu.edu.au under 'Performances'. To find out what shows the discounts apply to, and to book tickets, please call 07 4940 7800. You will need to specify that you are an alumnus when requesting the concession rate.

Alumni Discount Study Program

We at CQUniversity, understand the importance of life-long education and to assist our graduates on the path to improving their qualifications, we are proud to offer a five percent (5%) discount to all graduates (and their siblings and partners), when undertaking a Graduate Certificate in Management (CV22) or Graduate Diploma in Management (CF17).

Be Magazine

To ensure you receive the most up-to-date information and to guarantee prompt delivery of the quarterly 'Be' magazine, we encourage you to keep your details updated.

Be is CQUniversity's 36-page colour magazine, that takes a look at what our researchers, graduates and students are up to and how they are making a difference.

Graduates of the University and our community and industry partners are the primary audience for the magazine. It's a way for us to keep important stakeholders like you, informed about the University and connected to the people who were important to you when you were a student.

E-newsletter

The first official bi-monthly CQUniversity graduate e-newsletter will be launched in April.

Created specifically for our graduates, the e-news encompasses information related to new benefits and initiatives, networking opportunities, events, key graduate stories and other university news.

Just another way for the university to communicate important information that may assist you with your current and future career progression and keeping you connected to your university.

Alumni Networks

Alumni are one of our most important stakeholders at CQUniversity and with over 60,000 alumni located all around the world it is important to continue to build relationships between the University and our alumni. 

The University is able to assist you to establish a 'network' by providing assistance with contacting alumni, which will provide you with future valuable connections and resources.   Many alumni live within various regions throughout the world and as an alumnus, there is an opportunity to connect and expand both your personal and professional networks.

When considering a network, you will need to review the following:

  • Will your network be regional or discipline based?
  • Consider the purpose and objective of setting up a network (e.g. maintain social networks and links with other CQU alumni)
  • Who is going to manage the network?  Without an alumnus being the key driver of the network, it will not be a successful initiative
  • Advise the Office of Development & Alumni Relations with enough notice to support events/initiatives

Networks are generally self-managed, however the University provides assistance with the following:

  • Keeping contact lists up-to-date
  • Sending invitations
  • Managing RVSP's and other communication associated to the event
  • Promote through Graduate/Alumni social networks and communication channels

Office of Development and Graduate Relations

The Office of Development and Graduate Relations is the contact point for all graduates of the university, with assistance provided in graduate relation matters.

Our office aims to provide you benefits and initiatives which will enhance your career progressions, whilst providing opportunities to keep in touch with your friends and/or to keep abreast of the latest professional development, networking and event information.

Keeping your contact details up-to-date is imperative to benefit from these services.

Graduates/Alumni Living in China

Australia China Alumni Association Partnership with CQUniversity

With over 350 graduates residing in China, CQUniversity has forged a strong link with the Australia China Alumni Association (ACAA), established to promote Australian education through the success of alumni and supporting alumni via business and social networking. Members receive event discounts, special invitations to exclusive member-only events, monthly e-newsletters and other special offers. Dr Geoff Raby is the Patron of the association.

ACAA established the Australia China Alumni Awards in 2009 and alumni living in China who are an Australian university graduate are able to be nominated for a range of categories. The awards recognise the success of the wide-ranging achievements of graduates living in China (both local and expatriate).

To take advantage of the range of benefits on offer, graduates of the University are invited to join ACAA.

The Centre for Professional Health Education - Nursing Graduates

The Centre for Professional Health Education at CQUniversity Australia is committed to providing Health Professionals with professional development and continuing educational opportunities. With national registration commencing on the 1 July 2010, there is a requirement to participate in at least 20 hours of continuing professional development.

CQUniversity is an Authorised Provider of Endorsed Courses (APEC) with the Royal College of Nursing, Australia and can allocate Continuing Nurse Education (CNE) points as part of the RCNA's Life Long Learning Program (3LP).

Networking Opportunities

A number of university and graduate events are arranged each year throughout Australia, providing graduates with the opportunity to network with other like-minded people such as community members, university staff and other graduates. To receive invitations to these events, it is important to keep your details updated, join the Graduate/Alumni Relations Facebook page and/or regularly visit the events page on the Graduate Relations website. 

Keep in Touch With Friends

If you have lost touch with your friends/classmates since graduating from the University, the Office of Development and Graduate Relations can assist you to make contact. To make arrangements contact the Graduate Relations Manager via email graduate-enquiries@cqu.edu.au.
