Dr Viljoen holds a PhD in Industrial Psychology, is a registered psychologist with the Psychologists Board of Queensland and a member of the Australian Psychological Society. He has worked in Academia in South Africa for 14 years in a variety of roles and for the past four years in Australia. Pierre has a passion for Organisational Development and has consulting experience in a variety of sectors. As the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Community and Engagement) he is the chief external affairs officer for CQUniversity and provides leadership and advice on strategies to cultivate high-quality relationships with the University's internal and external communities and to develop productive partnerships to further the region's interests and the University's strategic priorities. His aim is to foster a deep and pervasive culture of engagement to support the University's mission to leverage its power of place and its goal of becoming Australia's most engaged University.

Gerard is currently the Director of Community Services at Mackay Regional Council. Prior to moving to Mackay in 2009 he was employed as the Senior Policy Advisor/Chief of staff to the Tourism, Regional Development and Industry Minister from 2007 to 2009 and prior to that in a similar role with the Child Safety Minister from 2004 to 2007. Earlier in his career he worked as a Policy Advisor to the Emergency Services Minister and spent time working in Townsville for the Queensland Premier?s Department.

Her knowledge of the not for profit sector has been through the management of her own properties.

Carmel has chaired many advisory committees to Government and has also held board positions on the Health and Community Services Workforce Council Qld and the Queensland Council of Social Service. A former elected representative on the Mackay City Council (now part of the Mackay Regional Council), Carmel was the first female Deputy Mayor of Mackay.
