The Faculty of Arts, Business, Informatics and Education is managed and guided in its operations through the position of Dean with assistance from the Deputy Executive Dean, Associate Dean (Research & Innovation) and Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning). Each position has special responsibilities and purposes to ensure the best outcomes for our students.
The Dean is the executive manager of the Faculty and is responsible, amongst other things, for strategic planning and developing goals and objectives and annual budgets, for high standards of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment in relation to programs and courses for which the Faculty is responsible.
Management and cost-effective deployment of staff, the advancement of the reputation of the work of the Faculty and the management and quality of performance of the Schools and research centres, are also the responsibility of the Dean.
The responsibilities of the Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching) are designed to ensure that excellence is achieved in all teaching and learning programs offered by the Faculty across all campuses and in the standards and quality of planning, evaluation and development of such programs.
The Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching) is responsible to the Dean of the Faculty for all matters related to the management and support of teaching and learning programs offered by the Faculty.
The responsibilities of the Associate Dean (Research and Innovation) are designed to ensure that excellence is achieved in all aspects of research in the Faculty, including the supervision of research higher degree students. Of particular importance is the development of staff and student research skills in the Faculty and the development of our international reputation for high quality research that has practical applications.
The Associate Dean (Research and Innovation) is responsible to the Pro Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty for all matters related to the management and support of research within the Faculty.
