Students' employment conditions during placement are determined by the employer and student during the placement appointment process. Generally conditions will be those applying within the employer's particular industry.
For example, the Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers Australia (APESMA) has agreed a salary level of 60% of Graduate salary is appropriate for students who are on their first industrial placement and 80% for students who are on their second industrial placement. Each Co-op placement, depending on the program, can range from 16 to 24 weeks of full time employment however students are available for up to 8 months in each placement cycle.
