Scholarships for postgraduate research candidates are administered through the Office of Research. The office maintains details on a wide range of scholarships for domestic and international applicants. Benefits and eligibility criteria will vary dependent upon the nature of the Award.

Domestic Scholarships and Strategic Research Scholarships will close on 31 October 2012. International Scholarships will close on 30 September 2012.
Co-Funded Industry Scholarship Scheme (CIS)
This scheme encourages industry collaboration through a new centrally funded research higher degree scholarship scheme. The Co-Funded Industry Scholarship (CIS) Scheme offers researchers the opportunity to apply for University funds to match funding they have secured from industry for a research higher degree scholarship. The CIS scheme will contribute an amount equal to the value of the industry funding, up to the value of $15,000 per annum. Successful applicants would be expected to have an industry agreement in place prior to the scholarship commencing.
Applications will open at the end of February, with a closing date of 31 August 2012.
2013 Fulbright Scholarships
Applications open 1 June 2012.
The Australian-American Fulbright Commission is pleased to advise that applications for the 2013 Fulbright Scholarships will open on 1 June 2012.
Valued at up to USD$40 000, Fulbright Scholarships are open to Australian citizens to undertake research or study in the United States for 3-12 months. Scholarships can be started between 1 July 2013 and 30 June 2014.
As the largest and one of the most prestigious educational scholarship programs in the world, Fulbright provides unique opportunities for Australians to build long term research collaboration and linkages with U.S. universities.
Applications are open to Postgraduates (to do research related to their Australian PhD, or enrol in a U.S. degree), Postdoctoral, Professional and Senior Scholars from any field of study. Applicants from Queensland, Tasmania, Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and the Northern Territory are encouraged to consider the state specific Fulbright Scholarships that have now been established (note: conditions apply).
