Research Highlights

As you know, CQUniversity has been pursuing the purchase of the CSIRO JM Rendel Laboratory in Rockhampton over recent months.

I am very excited to announce the acquisition has now officially been approved by the Federal Government and going forward, the laboratory facilities will be known as the Central Queensland Innovation and Research Precinct (CQIRP). These facilities are not only a wonderful investment for CQUniversity and its research agenda, but also an investment for the people of Central Queensland. We are embarking on an ambitious agenda of research and innovation resurgence over the next 10 years, which will revolutionise the University and the way we impact on the communities we service.

We are therefore putting our money where our mouth is, with plans to inject millions into staffing, resourcing and equipping CQIRP into a truly world-class facility over the next few years. I believe this new development will position Central Queensland as the research and innovation capital of regional Australia, with benefits that will continue to flow to the community from today on.

It will be some time before staff are relocated to the site as some sections of the building will need considerable refurbishment; however, we are looking forward to having research teams move in by December this year.
