Community Services

As CQU's place of Indigenous learning, spirituality and research we have the task of representing the university to the communities. This involves, in part, giving opportunities for the communities to access the university and to give community a taste of university without necessarily enrolling in a degree program or course. Some people may not want to enrol in university but would like the opportunity to access the expertise and other opportunities University affords.

Through the provision of quality personalized services, the Community Services objectives of Nulloo Yumbah are to:

  • recruit students into CQUniversity and Nulloo Yumbah activities, courses and programs through innovative and creative means utilizing past and present students, various media and in collaboration with other universities and organizations to ensure a high level of access across all central Queensland campuses of CQUniversity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people;
  • establish, maintain and promote a community educational program around each campus with a Nulloo Yumbah presence;
  • maintain an up-to-date data base of all community organizations and contacts for the major centres of recruitment and educational activities;
  • provide resources peculiar to promoting ATSI issues and Australian spirituality;
  • provide reconciliation activities for staff, students and the communities clustered around each of CQUniversity campuses;
  • establish mutually beneficial links and engagements with community agencies, businesses and industry; and
  • promote the activities, courses and programs of Nulloo Yumbah and CQUniversity in a professional and innovative manner ensuring corporate and ESOS compliance at all times.
