University Culture Services

Our responsibilities in this portfolio involve, in the first instance, facing the communities, encouraging them to come to CQUniversity and, once the students are in CQUniversity, offering services that equip students to fully participate in university life. This involves in part providing services that assist understanding of university culture and helping students accommodate this culture. We also face the university encouraging understanding of the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and to make changes that will accommodate our cultural diversity. Our service in this portfolio includes getting students into university, keeping them in university and after graduation encouraging them to come back. A useful metaphor is for Nulloo Yumbah to walk with the students, the faculties and divisions of the university to ensure a mutually enriching cultural and learning experience.

Through the provision of quality personalized services, the University Culture Services objectives of Nulloo Yumbah are to:

  • establish & maintain student-centred systems & processes to encourage students accommodating university culture and equitable access to CQUniversity services, faculty academic advice and resources;
  • to encourage student participation in the Student Association Board, clubs, social and sports events;
  • provide opportunities for students to experience CQUniversity services either through group facilitated exposure or personal referral to organizational units of the university, these will include but not be restricted to Library Services, Media Services, Counselling Careers & Health, Equity & Diversity, Ombudsman; and
  • recognize successful achievements in all aspects of university life especially graduation.
